The purpose of the Guide to Districtwide Assessment is to supply school board members and district leaders with a tool to use in the development of a district comprehensive assessment system for assessing student achievement in relation to their student learning expectations. Major funding for the development of the guide was provided by the FINE Foundation.
The guide is provided free of charge by the Iowa School Boards Foundation and aims to answer the following questions:
- What is the relationship between assessments and achievement?
- What are the requirements in state and federal law and policy regarding assessment?
- What assessments are required by the state of Iowa, and how does Iowa compare to other states?
- What assessments are in use in Iowa districts?
- What high-quality assessments are available, and what do they measure?
